As I write this, it is with a post tournament ache in my legs and brain, but a smile on my face. KTT 1 at mixed regionals exceeded any expectation I had on them, at some points of the day, the Frisbee we were playing was some of the best I have ever seen Kent pull out. Qualifying for nationals for the second time this year has now made us the most successful KTT team ever, a hard legacy to beat.
So, as Liverpool had managed to chump against Reading, there was a football match on at the same place we were playing so traffic was supposed to heavy. This is why we left at 8.30 – unfortunately the traffic was non existent so we were straight through. Lucky for TB really as he slept through two alarms! After a breakfast for champions at KFC / McDs, first game was against Thrown 1
The pools had already been split between top 10 and bottom 8 so pool games were always going to be harder than normal. Thrown were seeded 9th, 4 places below us (5th) so this was a must win game. After seeing them nearly beat dD, we were worried about how good they were. However, the breakfast had obviously worked because we destroyed Thrown. Our offence kicked into highest gear, with cuts coming from everywhere. Our long play was unstoppable, Thrown couldn’t touch us in the air. Defence was supreme, although Thrown were making mistakes, we were forcing them into these mistakes. Final score was 10-1 to KTT and the day was off to a good start.
Second game was against the top seeds and one of the best mixed teams in the country, Mohawks 1. We came out hard but Mohawks closed down our long play, taking out a serious offensive advantage we needed. Our short play wasn’t as clinical as it should have been and Mohawks made the most of their chances. Defence struggled against their ISO and they built their lead until we ran out of time to catch them. Final score was 8-4 but it was a good game to play in.
Third game was against Chichester 2. Seeded 7th we didn’t know how good they would be so, wanting to make up for the Mohawks game, we went balls out. Our zone was unbreakable and I don’t remember them getting into our half of the pitch. This is a game I will always remember as I got my first Callahan (very proud of myself). Offence made the most of its chances and we won 9-0, got to love a good bagel. We had now secured 5th and couldn’t come any lower than 10th even if we lost every other game.
Final pool game was against our old enemies, dD. Disc Doctors are always strong and their girls were phenomenally good. Don’t really remember this match, just know it was close but not close enough. Final score was 9-5 to dD but I know it was greatly spirited an fun to play. Loss left us in 5th and saw us with a two hour break until the 5-8 crossover.
5-8 crossover was against Reading. All I can say about this match is that we chumped it. Can’t even remember the score. We didn’t close down the cheap tactic of throw to the tall guy, but if we had a 6 foot 6 ent we would probably would have used him as well.
We were now 8th and fighting to stay in qualification. Playing against our friends HU? 1 this is a game we very nearly lost. Hungover and pissed off from Reading, we threw away opportunities and didn’t close down HU?’s long game. At 6-2 down with just under 10 minutes to go we kicked ourself in the heads and started to fight back. Managing an epic comeback and drawing 7-7, the hooter went. However, draws weren’t allowed and we had to keep on playing. Luckily we were on offence and didn’t turn over but won the game on a technicality. Catching the disc in the air on the corner of the endzone, Basham’s (HU? Player) momentum pushed me out which, in the rules, counts as a point. Therefore we won 8-7 but it was a horrible way to win. If we won the next game, we would finish off in 7th and not have to play at 10.15 at night!
Final game was against Chichester 1. As we had spanked Chi 2, they were looking for some revenge. Also, their women had taken 2nd at nationals so were very, very good. The game was point for point until 5-4 when we managed to break the pattern. Special congratulations to our girls for this game as Chichester consistently put 3 girls on the line. As our girls had already played 6 tough games and it was 9 o’clock at night, they were very tired but constantly played on. Final score was 7-4 and KTT 1 had made it to nationals for a second time in a season.
Highlights from that day
Callahan time
Cocksucker douchebag
Bagelling Chichester 2
Drive back when I wanted to hear Erasure ‘A little respect’ and turning to a different radio station, where it was playing
BBC SURREY
Watching the second team all day, they were very good.
Adam’s 5 step layout against Mohawks
Getting pissed at Mohawks and bulleting a disc into Judi (she caught it though)
Irish’s flying kick for a D
Backstreet’s greatest + Insane catch in their first game shock when he landed with the disc.
Beating a mammoth Thrown player in the air and seeing his shocked expression
Me and TB trying to cheer Anna up when she nearly broke her nose. (Laughter is the best medicine, but it won't fix that....BURN)
Timmy’s stats
Tribute to Whippet by throwing an inverse scoober for a score.
Point blocking after dropping a sitter in the endzone
Well done to the Second Team, winning spoon and spirit. YEAH KENT. YEAH MIXED. YEAH ULTIMATE. |

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say that both teams played some sweet and sexy ultimate this weekend. It was a pleasure to stat for you guys. I'll send the stats to Mash cos i haven't a clue how this whole post graphs and things on the forum works. Aplogies to the 2nd team for missing a few games out
On that note my Highlighs:
-Catching up with old friends
-Meeting lots of lovely new people
-Mike's shorts/skin without the sauce, sorry about that
-TB asking the man in pizza hut to "Rub It" and then to "Take it out and put it back in again!"
A few comments from Stating:
1st Team the result speaks for itself really. Loved watching you get through to nationals. Even when you lost your seeding you didn't give up. Some pant-wettingly tense moments but you pulled it off spectacularly. Still loving the Mike/Hooch combo for quick points. Also shout out to the main chasers on zone Josie and TB who had the opposition on lockdown.
Kenttouchables you played incredibly this weekend can't believe that some of you have been playing less than half a year. It was a shame you lost out on points from other teams being little bitches and you not being able to call them on it. You won spirt so they can cheg right off!!! To mention just a fraction of the awesomeness i witnessed:
-Ken you totally owned. Poaching like a mofo and never getting beat.
-Clark (kinda glad you turned into a sick ass handler cos i take credit for calling that ages ago)
-Luke just pure class.
-Backstreet you are basically "the shit" 1st team material fo'sho
-Curry i don't know how you got so good at handling so fast but i'm impressed
-Flyer your D was tres bien and sweet reactions catching a score off the D player.
-Alice and Pippa, i loved seeing how you genuinly chuffed you both were by how well you were playing was beautiful to see.
-Anna well done for taking atleast 3 people out...shame you broke your face on the last one.
-Hanni, your scary force face is just terrifing.
Much love to ya'll hope to see you soonish xxx |

YEEEAH KENTTOUCHABLES!
Highlights
- Sweet low release sidearm to the open corner of the end zone, because I knew Rover would be arriving there shortly to collect for a point. And he did.
- Lovely pass and move play between me and Flyer, ending with me arriving just outside the end zone to pass an easily weighted, short distance, chest-heighted backhand to the unmarked Backstreet and watching the disc bounce out of his hands! We can definitely put this drop down to a keen eye for starting the next point, because it was really in the bag!
- Backstreet's greatest attempt, which was unfortunately not caught.
- Flyer's consistently successful foot blocks!
- Witnessing Anna's alternate agenda for the day: self-destruction.
- Seeing KTT1 bitch, rape and Callahan the Chichester Cobras (the team who bagel'ed Team MC at Indoors)
- Curry, winning the Sexy Pants call by simply not wearing any underwear at all! How he managed to run, jump, pivot and force without his penis being exposed or getting slapped around to the point of pain is beyond me.
- Possibly screwing over Surrey Scorpions 1 after being asked about a call that resulted in UCL winning the match after I said 'he was definitely in!'.
- The team somehow instinctively adopting the 'give and go' styles of play that I have coveted from other teams.
- Winning most of our matches. The team's performance exceeded my expectations.
I can't remember much else. I just had a great time, and I want to play more! Great team atmosphere.

Highlights
- Having the team name sound a lot like I was gonna be touching a lotta balls. Which was actually scarily accurate, even without Jake in the team...
- Knowing that we were the better team against Essex
- After getting bitched on zone for the first few points against Surrey, turning on the short game flow-y jizz in pants awesomeness.
- Curry's no underwear. I know it's been mentioned but SERIOUSLY bro?! Also, I think I saw a bit of it when you were proving it.
- Alvin and the motherfucking chipmunks, nuff said.
-The AMAZING games against thrown. 6-5 and 7-6. Epically close.
- Anna's ability to catch in the most unattractive, 'oh god she's gonna drop it', off the shoulder way.
-My sick hammer for Backstreet's score in the last game |
